Full Time. Juris Doctor (or foreign equivalent). Will accept a foreign equivalent law degree if the candidate has earned the LLM (Master of Laws) per Rule 4.30(A) of the Rules of the California State Bar (Admissions Rules) or is otherwise eligible to take the California Bar Exam (fully admitted to practice in any other U.S. state or foreign jurisdiction). 2 years of experience in the job offered, Law Clerk, or any related position. Must have 1 year of experience with Proposition 65. Must have demonstrated experience with OEHHA MADL/NSRL, conducting research using LexisNexis and Westlaw, and drafting complex litigation documents (demurrers, pleadings, motions and consent judgements). Salary: $112,100/yr.
Draft notices under Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986), specifically CA Health & Safety Code §25249.6, research potential violations, and verify warning requirements for compliance; assist with engagement with the Attorney General and District Attorneys on compliance matters, reporting obligations, and liaising with opposing counsel. Evaluate exposure to risks and secure determinations that reduce regulatory liabilities under CA Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) established Maximum Allowable Dose Levels (MADLs), No Significant Risk Levels (NSRLs), and Safe Use Determinations (SUDs). Conduct legal research using Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, Trellis, and other platforms to identify relevant case law and statutes, applying findings strategically to support case development, litigation, and enhance legal positioning. Draft complex litigation documents, including demurrers and oppositions, pleadings, motions, discovery responses, meet and confer correspondence, and motions to compel, motion to approve consent judgments, among other motions. Assess case merits, anticipating counterarguments; draft detailed settlement agreements aligned with regulatory standards.
