Mr. Smith spent the first half of his legal career on the defense bar, defending professionals (attorneys, brokers), and employers sued for wrongful termination, harassment, and retaliation.

Mr. Smith took the experience he gained while working on the defense side and moved to the plaintiff’s bar and aggressively litigated claims against employers for discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment and retaliation. Mr. Smith participated in numerous trials and arbitrations that resulted in multi-million settlements and verdicts in the employment cases. Mr. Smith obtained a $3.4 million judgment in a sexual harassment claim in the matter Baez v. Burbank Unified School District, LASC Case No. BC372092.

Additionally, Mr. Smith obtained a $2.7 million award in an arbitration matter against an assisted living facility stemming from a broken neck injury fall to an 87 year old resident, in the matter Sellecchia v. Sunrise of Studio City, ARC Case No. 78M5439A.

Mr. Smith also has several reported appellate decisions in Claudio v. Regents University of California, 134 Cal.App. 4th 224 (2005) and Curtis v. Kellog & Andelson, 73 Cal.App.4th 492 (1999)

Mr. Smith grew up in West Los Angeles and attended U.C.L.A. for his undergraduate studies and attended McGeorge School of Law where he received the American Jurisprudence Award for Constitutional Law and was awarded the Verne Adrian and Annabel McGeorge Scholarship.
