Ms. Schimmel’s practice is dedicated to employment litigation matters on behalf of California employees. More than half of Ms. Schimmel’s experience has been focused on representing employees in wage and hour class and representative actions for labor code violations (including, but not limited to, claims unpaid overtime, minimum wages, expense reimbursement, meal and rest period), as well as consumer and privacy right matters. Ms. Schimmel’s experience also includes representing employees in wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment and retaliation matters against employers who violate California law. She has successfully prosecuted and resolved hundreds of cases.
Prior to joining Blackstone, Ms. Schimmel gained crucial experience representing employers while working for a large national defense firm. This knowledge gives her great insight into the motivations and strategies utilized by defense counsel and employers during the litigation and settlement process.
Ms. Schimmel was also an integral part of the legal team who obtained an historic settlement on behalf of hundreds of survivors of childhood sexual abuse against the Los Angeles Archdiocese.
Outside of work, Ms. Schimmel enjoys spending her free time with her family, traveling, attending concerts, eating good food and working out. She has also taught Krav Maga, the Israeli-based self-defense system, since 2008.
